Before taking this step, Manon had already had an impressive career in HR. However, she chose a career switch to brokerage, driven by new challenges and opportunities.
Manon lives in Amstelveen, giving her the advantage of living just a five-minute bike ride from the office. This proximity to her workplace, combined with her thorough knowledge of Amstelveen, helped her immensely in her role. She knew the city inside out before she joined VLIEG.
The switch to VLIEG
The move to VLIEG came at a crucial time. In 2018, Manon was approached to help set up a new real estate department, a challenge she grabbed with both hands. Until then, VLIEG only had a mortgage department in Amstelveen, but there was a clear need to expand into brokerage. Together with her colleagues, Manon built this department, a process she describes as particularly intensive. Manon: “It was not an easy task to start from scratch and gain a foothold in Amstelveen’s competitive market.”
Nevertheless, Manon looks back on the road they traveled with great satisfaction. Building valuable contacts in the local community was a challenge at first, but today she is reaping the benefits. The goal of putting VLIEG’s brokerage on the map in Amstelveen has been successfully achieved, thanks in part to the already well-run mortgage department. What is your greatest success story?
Manon: “My best success story at VLIEG Makelaars is without a doubt setting up the brokerage in Amstelveen and really putting it on the map. Starting a new department and seeing it grow into a familiar face in the region gives one a sense of pride. The success spread like wildfire, thanks in part to word of mouth, so more and more people found their way to us.
In the early days, we were based in a villa, which in itself was a unique place. However, with the arrival of the brokerage, we made the move to a location in The City Heart. This move to a nicer and better location was a strategic move that made us even more visible to the public. After several years of hard work and continued dedication, VLIEG Makelaars in Amstelveen has become a familiar and trusted face.
It makes me intensely happy to know that I was able to contribute to this success. It is an affirmation of our joint efforts and the passion we all share for the profession.
